City of La Verne Spreads Holiday Cheer With its Very Merry Christmas Events!

November 17, 2021

La Verne, CA – Get ready to deck the halls with the City of La Verne’s holiday events and activities. After modified activities last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of La Verne is excited to bring back its festive traditions.

The Cruisin La Verne Car Show is ushering in the holiday season early this year with its free Holiday Car Show & Toy Drive on Saturday, November 20 starting at 10 a.m to 4 p.m.. La Verne friends and family are invited to the historic Old Town to check out vintage cars as well as participate in the “CHiPs for Kids” Toy Drive. In honor of the season of giving, community members can drop off new unwrapped toys that will be donated to children for the holidays. For more information, please visit, call Craig Hoelzel at (714) 671-5883.

Celebrate the season with the City of La Verne, local Old Town businesses and restaurants for its Holiday Stroll through Old Town on Saturday, December 4 at 4 p.m. This event is free for all ages and will feature the annual storytelling of a holiday classic, the lighting of the Christmas tree, caroling, live music and a photo opportunity with Santa. Old Town businesses will extend their hours to offer free refreshments, great deals and more to La Verne residents. Don’t miss this chance to spread the holiday cheer for all to hear with your neighbors and friends!

The City of La Verne will continue to make spirits bright this Christmas season with its Tree Lighting Ceremony on Monday, December 6 at 6:30 p.m. Residents are invited to attend the annual ceremony in front of City Hall (3660 D Street) right before the City Council meeting. Stop by the event for some yuletide entertainment and a visit from a jolly special guest.

As part of its countdown to Christmas, the City will host its 22nd Annual Winter Wonderland event on Saturday, December 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is the one day a year that children and families can enjoy snow in La Verne! There will be snow runs, play lands with real snow, arts and crafts, as well as fun holiday treats like hot cocoa! And don’t miss your photo opportunity with the one and only Santa Claus! Children should dress for snow with mittens, gloves, boots and jackets! Presale tickets cost $12 per child, which includes snow play, snack, crafts and a visit with Santa. Presale ends Thursday, December 9 at 6 p.m. Tickets will also be available at the event itself for $15 per child. For more information, please call the Community Services Department at (909) 596-8700. Anyone wishing to have a booth or sponsor the event should contact the La Verne Community Center at (909) 596-8776.

And finally, the City’s Christmas Committee has worked hard to plan and coordinate the City’s annual Christmas morning traditions. After a night filled with milk, cookies and presents, Santa will make his annual tour through the neighborhoods of La Verne beginning at 7 a.m. on Christmas morning (December 25) before heading back to the North Pole. Residents are invited to wave to Santa when they hear the lead car announcing Santa’s arrival. This year, volunteers will bring back the tradition of distributing candy bags to each home on Christmas morning.
