[ARCHIVED] Celebrate the Holiday Season with the City of La Verne!

Holiday events

Make your spirits bright this holiday season by attending the upcoming events in La Verne! The City is excited to welcome back our favorite seasonal events and activities for the whole family to enjoy. Come donate toys and check out spiffy automobiles at the Holiday Car Show and Toy Drive, meet Santa Claus at the City Hall Tree Lighting Ceremony, deliver goodie bags at our 97th Annual Christmas Morning and more.

“La Verne’s community-oriented holiday event offerings are always well-planned and attended, but better yet, they bring great cheer to our residents,” said Mayor Tim Hepburn. “Our Community Services Department provides a variety of community service opportunities and family-friendly events that bring residents and visitors together each holiday season.”

Kick off the holiday festivities at the Cruisin’ La Verne Holiday Car Show on November 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The community can enjoy classic cars and vintage vehicles along the streets of historic Old Town La Verne. Attendees are also encouraged to participate in the “CHiPs for Kids” Toy Drive by donating a new, unwrapped toy worth $10. For more information, please contact event promoter Craig Hoelzel at (714) 671-5833.

Next up on December 3, join Old Town La Verne’s Holiday Stroll from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. for an evening of caroling, live music and holiday stories. Old Town La Verne businesses and restaurants will be open for extended hours, offering refreshments and deals.

Continue the holiday fun on December 5, where City Hall invites you and everyone you know on the Nice List to attend our annual City Hall Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. The tree lighting will be held before the City Council meeting and will feature holiday entertainment and a special visit from the big man himself, Santa Claus.

The festivities will continue at the 23rd Annual Winter Wonderland on Saturday, December 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Heritage Park. Children can enjoy arts and crafts, treats from Mrs. Claus’ Cozy Kitchen, play with real snow and, of course, take a photo with Santa! Presale is $13 per child and ends Thursday, December 8 by 6 p.m. Entry the day of the event is $15 per child, cash only.

Finally, help spread some holiday cheer in La Verne on Christmas Day from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. by delivering goodie bags. Volunteers can fulfill community service hours and brighten faces all in one fun morning. Please note that volunteers must be able to walk for long periods of time, and must sign up and complete a waiver form to participate.

“Our department loves this time of year because there are so many opportunities to come together and appreciate La Verne. Residents always show so much love and kindness at our holiday events, and I look forward to being part of it every year,” said Community Services Manager Yvonne Duran. “We can’t wait to officially kick off the holiday season by lighting our tree in front of City Hall!”

The City of La Verne hopes to see your bright and smiling faces at any and all of our holiday events this upcoming season! For more information, please call Community Services at (909) 596-8700.
