Foothill Gold Line
The Foothill Gold Line from Glendora to Montclair is a 12.3-mile extension of the Metro Gold Line light rail system. The project will add new Gold Line stations in the cities of Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne, Pomona, Claremont, and Montclair - and may be built in phases.
The project broke ground in December 2017 and has completed two of four contracts. In August 2019, the Construction Authority Board of Directors awarded the main design-build contract to Kiewit-Parsons, a Joint Venture. Major construction will begin in 2020 and take five years to complete to Pomona (eight years to Montclair if additional funds are secured by September 2021).
The project is being funded by Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties and the State of California. The portion of the project within Los Angeles County is being funded mostly by LA Metro’s sales tax measures (Measure M and R); San Bernardino County is funding the majority of the portion in their county. The project also received a nearly $300 million greenhouse gas reduction grant from the State of California to be used in both counties.

Construction Highlights - January 2022 (Updated)
The Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Phase 2B Project, also known as the Foothill Gold Line from Glendora to Montclair (Project), is undergoing a supplemental environmental review and the public is invited to review the Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Report 3 (Draft SEIR 3) and provide comment by close of business on April 4, 2022.
Proposed Project Modifications
The Draft SEIR 3 evaluates the environmental impacts of Proposed Project Modifications. The Construction Authority is considering relocating the parking facility at the San Dimas Station from the previously approved location to a new location south of the project right-of-way between Monte Vista Avenue and San Dimas Avenue - the site is the current San Dimas Park and Ride Lot. The Project Modifications are proposed as a result of coordination conducted between the City of San Dimas and the Construction Authority. Approximately 289 parking spaces would be provided which is consistent with the number of parking spaces planned at the currently approved station parking facility as part of SEIR 2. Relocation of the San Dimas parking facility would result in associated vehicle and pedestrian access changes in the vicinity of the San Dimas Station. All parking modifications would be designed and constructed in accordance with the Metro Rail Design Criteria.
The proposed changes do not alter the scope of the Project as approved by the Construction Authority. The Draft SEIR 3 has concluded construction of the Project Modifications would not have new or more severe significant impacts or require new mitigation measures.
No modifications are proposed for the parking facilities at the Glendora, La Verne, Pomona, Claremont, or Montclair Stations.
